
Deborah Lewis
Deborah Lewis is an Associate Attorney at Capitan Law, where she focuses on long-term disability (LTD) cases. She is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Deborah represents disabled claimants nationwide.
Education and Work History
Deborah earned her Juris Doctor from Widener University Delaware Law School and her undergraduate degree from The College of New Jersey. During her studies, she participated in international exchange programs at the University of Valladolid in Spain and the University of Geneva in Switzerland. She is fluent in Spanish.
Before joining Capitan Law, Deborah worked for five years as an attorney for the Social Security Administration and spent nearly fifteen years representing claimants in Social Security disability matters at all levels of administrative appeal and in federal court. Over the course of her career, she has represented clients with a wide range of conditions, including orthopedic and spinal injuries, autoimmune diseases, neurological disorders, cancer, mental health conditions, and many other serious health issues. She approaches each case with the understanding that disability impacts every individual differently, tailoring her advocacy to each client’s unique medical, vocational, and personal circumstances.
Deborah is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Chester County Bar Association, and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR).
Personal Background
Deborah grew up in southern New Jersey and now lives in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, with her husband, two young adult daughters, and a miniature schnauzer. She is committed to fighting for clients who have worked hard their entire lives and now need someone in their corner. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and giving back to her community. She was a Girl Scout leader for fifteen years, and currently serves on the boards of the Kennett Area YMCA and YoungMoms, a nonprofit that supports young mothers. Deborah also enjoys swimming, reading, catching up with friends over coffee, and cheering on her daughters in their various interests and pursuits.
